In 2009, the Freedom was invited to play in the Golden State Soccer League (GSSL). The GSSL is primarily made
up of East Bay area teams. Looking for appropriate high level competition, the Freedom jumped at the
GSSL opportunity. The Freedom was new to the GSSL, but was promoted from the traditional first year
division of Bronze to the Silver B division. The Freedom battled each week and found
themselves fighting for the Championship in the last game against this year's new rival,
ACC Mavericks Fury. The Freedom had played them twice before and split victories with them.
Due to a tie breaker situation, the Freedom had to win the final game to claim Champions.
However, through a hard fought game, ACC would end up Champions with a 1-0 win.
Congratulations to the Freedom on their 2nd place finish with a record of 7-1-2.
See the GSSL website for more information.
